Redwire Opens New Facility in Michigan to Increase Production of Critical Fuel Cells for Stalker UAS
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Redwire Corporation (NYSE: RDW), a global leader in space and defense technology solutions, today announced it has opened a new 85,000 square foot facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan to increase production of critical fuel cells for its Stalker uncrewed aerial system (UAS) to meet growing demand.
This strategic expansion nearly doubles Redwire’s footprint in Michigan and increases vertical integration for its wholly owned subsidiary, Edge Autonomy. The state-of-the-art facility further enables Edge Autonomy to scale production of comprehensive energy solutions, including battery, filtration, and solid oxide fuel cells used to power its Stalker UAS and propane-powered fuel cells supporting other critical applications like efficient and cost-effective power for freight rail.
“This strategic expansion is a key investment in our vertical integration strategy for Stalker UAS production which is a major differentiator. As the Pentagon signals plans to stimulate domestic manufacturing of drones and critical UAS components, we are well positioned to activate increased production and support demand,” said Steve Adlich, President of Edge Autonomy. “We are very proud to build on our 25-year legacy in the Ann Arbor community, and this expansion underscores our commitment to both our customers and to the community.”
“I’m excited that this new facility will help increase your capacity to meet many of the serious challenges facing our country today, while creating new jobs in our state,” said Senator Gary Peters. “For more than 25 years, Edge Autonomy has been in operation here in Ann Arbor. I’m thrilled that this company has made this critical investment in this community, which will help ensure Edge Autonomy continues to be an asset to our state for years to come.”
The company marked the facility opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the production space on November 13, 2025. The event was attended by U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and local elected officials.
Edge Autonomy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Redwire, specializes in delivering innovative uncrewed aerial systems, advanced optics, and resilient energy solutions that are being used by the DoD, U.S. Federal Civilian Agencies, and allied governments.
